For a guy that just lost to the North Carolina Tar Heels, Randy Shannon is doing quite well recruiting. Then again, he’s got the look of a man that’s destined to turn things around, don’t you think?

Jordan Futch: Jordan Futch is a 6-foot-3, 202 pound outside linebacker from Hollywood, Florida (Chaminade Madonna High) that runs the 40 in 4.56 seconds, can put up 13 repetitions on the bench press, and possesses a 34 inch vertical leap. Further, this four star reports a 3.0 GPA.

The best part, however, is that he’s been productive as a high schooler to the tune of 82 tackles, including 12 for a loss and nine sacks last season. Thus, Futch has recently climbed the 2008 Rivals 100 to number 36.

Futch has already verbally committed to play for head coach Randy Shannon and the Miami of Florida Hurricanes next season. He chose them over the Ole Miss Rebels, South Carolina Gamecocks, Virginia Cavaliers, West Virginia Mountaineers, Wisconsin Badgers, Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Lynn Katoa: Lynn Katoa is a 6-foot-2, 220 pound inside linebacker from Salt Lake City, Utah (Cottonwood Senior High) that runs the 40 in 4.6 seconds, benches 315 pounds, and possesses a 30 inch vertical leap. Sounds nice, right?

But this sounds better. How about 109 tackles and 13 sacks as a junior last season in high school? Thus, it’s no wonder that Katoa finds himself listed on the 2008 Rivals 100 at number 59.

Katoa is still out there for teams to fight for. Some of the colleges that are on his short list include the Colorado Buffaloes, Florida Gators, LSU Tigers, Miami of Florida Hurricanes, Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Southern Cal Trojans, Texas Longhorns, and Texas A&M Aggies.

Happy hunting, fellas.
