D.C. Jefferson commits to LSU
When you choose a picture for a blog post it should have something to do with the piece. But we here at NCAA Recruiting Scoop are getting a little tired of choosing LSU pictures. So instead we decided to post a picture of the Auburn cheerleaders and one of their biggest fans, Charles Barkley. No, the Tigers cheerleaders aren’t going to be cheering for D.C. Jefferson in the future. Still, the way their freshman are playing in 2007 it looks like they’re going to have a whole lot to cheer about in the future despite that fact.
D.C. Jefferson, a 6-foot-6, 230 pound dual-threat quarterback from Winter Haven, Florida (Winter Haven High School) has verbally committed to play for the Louisiana State University (LSU) Tigers and head coach Les Miles in 2008.
Jefferson runs the 40 in 4.76 seconds, put up 14 reps on the bench press, and possesses a 30 inch vertical leap. However, when you factor in that he stands at six and a half feet, you’ve got to feel pretty good about those athletic skills. And just in case you’re an LSU fan and don’t, it would seem important to remember that this kid averaged over 18 points and 10 rebounds per game on the high school basketball court last season.
What’s more, he’s got a rocket arm and used it to pass for 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns. Further- that’s right, there’s more- he rushed for 300 yards and three touchdowns as a high school junior. And all of this led to this three star prospect falling in at number 8 on the 2008 Rivals dual threat quarterback list.
In the end, Jefferson chose the LSU Tigers over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Tennessee Volunteers, Washington Huskies, University of Central Florida Golden Knights, Auburn Tigers, Boston College Eagles, and Iowa State Cyclones. Lucky for Les Miles that he did.
Then again, if you’ve been reading up at NCAA Recruiting Scoop at all recently then you know that Miles is good enough at this recruiting thing that he doesn’t need any luck.
By the way, NCAA Recruiting Scoop researches Rivals in a big way. That said, it would seem important to give a little love back to them. So check out BCS Frenzy for the link that will send you to their Heisman Trophy voting list here.
