Brice Butler commits to USC
Most thought that wide receiver Brice Butler (from Norcross, Georgia) would end up going to the same school that his father, Bobby Butler did. Bobby, for those of you who don’t know, was a first round pick out of Florida State in the 1981 NFL Draft.
However, Rivals is reporting a twist (one that we’re all familiar with, mind you). Brice Butler has chosen to attend Southern California.
“I first committed to USC in May during spring football,” said Butler. “T-Mac and coach Carroll both came out to see me play. That’s when I let coach Carroll know that I was coming to USC.”
In short, Pete Carroll must be thrilled to have this 6-foot-2, 178 pounder with 4.4 speed (and decent strength for his position, to boot). Last season, Butler caught 35 balls for 680 yards and nine touchdowns. Taken together, Rivals considers him the 66th best 2008 recruit in the nation.
At this point, Carroll- who in essence stole Butler from the grips of Arizona State, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Oregon State, and Penn State- is probably looking over the stadium right now.
After all, it’s become his empire.
